Bio & Education
Erika believes Yoga is a process of self-discovery totally unique and personal to each one of us, and loves helping clients develop their own relationship with Yoga, both on and off the mat. She began her Yoga practice in 2001, and earned her Yoga Teacher Certification at the Nosara Yoga Institute in Costa Rica. She has advanced training in Transformational Yoga practices, Self Awakening Yoga Therapeutic Essentials, Trauma Sensitive Yoga and Ayurvedic Yoga. She is a Yoga Alliance ERYT-200/RYT-500, and teaches studio classes and private individuals and groups.
Amid the concrete jungle of the city, botanical medicine is nature's way of supporting our healthful balance. Erika studied herbal medicine at Goldthread Organic Herb Farm and Apothecary in Western Massachusetts, combining Traditional Chinese, Ayurvedic and Western Herbalism. Using herbs to fortify and heal might be as simple as drinking a cup of chamomile a day, it might involve a custom-blended tea or tincture, or perhaps receiving a restorative aromatherapy Savasana treatment. It's once again a completely individualized exploration.
Erika is trained in Health Coaching by the Institute for Integrative Nutrition and she Board Certified by the American Association of Drugless Practitioners. Her education included over 100 dietary theories, practical lifestyle management techniques and innovative coaching methods, taught by some of world's top health and wellness experts like Dr. Andrew Weil, Dr. Deepak Chopra and even Joy Behar. Erika's education has equipped her with extensive knowledge in holistic nutrition and preventive health. Drawing on this expertise, Erika works with clients to help them make lifestyle changes that produce real and lasting results.
Food should be a fun, creative and delicious part of life, and there is no one diet that is right for everyone. With a German/French Mother and Greek Father, Erika grew up in a household of diverse flavors, and with a deep respect for the power of home cooking. Erika is an avid chef, wine lover and foodie, and a long-time vegetarian who makes killer greek meatballs. She supports clients with menu planning, cooking classes, grocery store tours and innovative solutions for the quandary of how to eat well in today's world.
